Who needs a Allergen Awareness Training?

Anyone who prepares, handles, or serves food in a food establishment —such as restaurants, cafes, or food trucks—should be aware of food allergen safety practices. 

Is the certificate required?

While not formally required by most states, the FDA recommends that food employees are properly trained in food allergy awareness, as it relates to their assigned duties. Food allergy awareness includes describing foods identified as major food allergens and the symptoms that could be caused in a sensitive individual who has an allergic reaction.

How long does it take to complete?

The course takes about 1 to 2 hours to complete and is entirely online.

Is there an exam?

Yes — at the end of the Allergen Awareness course you’ll take an online final exam testing the food safety concepts you have learned. When you successfully pass the exam you’ll have earned an Allergen Awareness certificate.
